Vietnam's trade balance reversed, with a deficit of US $ 1.28 billion in the first half of April


BizLIVE - Statistics from the General Department of Customs show that, in April 1, Vietnam's merchandise trade balance was in deficit of US $ 1.28 billion.


The General Department of Customs has just updated the latest preliminary statistics showing that the total import and export value of Vietnam's goods in the April 1 period (from April 1 to April 15) reached US $ 17.79 billion.


Accumulated to the end of April 1, 2020, Vietnam's total import-export value of goods reached US $ 140,753 billion.


For export, the export turnover in the first period of April reached US $ 8.26 billion, of which FDI enterprises reached US $ 5.35 billion.


Accumulated to the end of April 15, Vietnam's total export value of goods reached US $ 71.6 billion. In particular, FDI enterprises achieved export value of US $ 47.9 billion.


The items with large export value in the first period of April, including computers, electronic products and components, reached US $ 1.44 billion; Telephone and accessories reached 1.27 billion USD; Machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts reached 770 million USD; Textiles and garments worth 729 million USD and footwear of all kinds reach 580 million USD.


Regarding import, Vietnam's import turnover in the first period of April 2020 reached 9.54 billion USD, of which, export turnover of FDI enterprises reached 5.2 billion USD.


Accumulated to the end of April 1, 2020, Vietnam's export turnover reached 69.14 billion USD. In particular, the export turnover of foreign direct investment enterprises reached US $ 40 billion.


Items with the largest import turnover in April include: Computers, electronic products and components reaching US $ 1.89 billion; Machinery, equipment, tools and spare parts reached US $ 1.55 billion; Fabrics of all kinds US $ 502 million; Mobile phones and accessories reached 432 million USD and iron and steel of all kinds 441 million USD.


Statistics from the General Department of Customs also show that, in April 1, Vietnam's merchandise trade balance was in deficit of US $ 1.28 billion. However, due to a large surplus in the first quarter of 2020, the accumulated value from the beginning of the year to the end of April 15, Vietnam's trade balance was still 2.46 billion USD.
