A report of the Ministry of Transport to Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc said that the Long Thanh International Airport project will start in May 2021.
In the report, the Ministry of Transport (MOT) emphasized that the Ministry and the Airport Corporation of Vietnam (ACV) chose the station architecture and completed the feasibility study report.
The Ministry of Planning and Investment and the standing body of the State Appraisal Council are drafting a project appraisal report, and in April 2020, the appraisal report will be completed and submitted to the Prime Minister for approval.
According to the report of the Ministry of Transport to Prime Minister Nguyen Xuan Phuc, the project of Long Thanh International Airport will start in May 2021.
According to the report, the implementation of the technical design of the ground leveling project of Long Thanh airport will start in July 2020. The construction is scheduled to start in May 2021. Time to complete construction of all items is 12/2025.
However, the Ministry of Transport confirmed that the current progress of site clearance faces many difficulties, possibly affecting the project construction process. Specifically, the Ministry pointed out the difficulties due to the fact that the actual recovered area of many cases increased or decreased compared to the land use right certificate, the land price after the update was much different from the project preparation step ...
Therefore, the Ministry of Transport assessed that the handover of the entire land area in the first phase of the project (more than 1,800 hectares) in October 2020 is difficult to be feasible; It is also difficult to complete the Loc An-Binh Son resettlement area in July 2020 to accommodate 700 households in the project area.
However, ACV is confident to be able to ensure the progress and quality of the project if assigned to invest in Long Thanh airport. According to Lai Xuan Thanh, Chairman of ACV's Board of Directors, ACV pledged to make every effort to complete the project by 2025. Mr. Thanh added that, despite being severely affected by COVID-19, ACV still focuses on prioritizing and balancing sufficient resources for the project of Long Thanh International Airport.
According to ACV, the area needed to ensure the commencement of the project is the area of Dong Nai Rubber Corporation which has basically been completed. Therefore, ACV affirms that the overall progress of the whole project will not be affected.
Investment in building Long Thanh International Airport is one of the important national projects approved by the National Assembly in Resolution No. 94/2015 / QH13 dated June 25, 2015.
Long Thanh international airport is planned to reach grade 4F as assigned by the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO); is an important international airport of the country, aiming to become one of the regional air hubs, with the scale and capacity after completing all 3 phases of 100 million passengers / year and 5 million tons of goods / year.
In the immediate future, Phase 1 will invest in the construction of a runway, a passenger terminal along with synchronous auxiliary items with a capacity of 25 million passengers / year and 1.2 million tons of cargo / year. No later than 2025, Long Thanh International Airport will be completed and put into operation.
