After nearly 8 months of starting construction, component 3 project of Long Thanh International Airport is following the progress, but the site clearance project is still slow, which can greatly affect the progress of project construction.
The Ministry of Transport said so in a report just sent to Deputy Prime Minister Le Van Thanh on the implementation of the Long Thanh international airport project, phase 1.
According to the Ministry of Transport, with the project of land acquisition, compensation and support for resettlement of Long Thanh airport invested by the People's Committee of Dong Nai province, so far Dong Nai province has handed over 1,284 hectares (reaching 50 million hectares) out of 2,532ha of land for phase 1, disbursed 10,660 out of 22,856 billion VND, reaching 46.6%. In addition, the construction progress of resettlement areas cannot be completed in 2021.
In addition to the old causes, the complicated COVID-19 epidemic greatly affected the local clearance work. The construction of component projects of the resettlement area also encountered many difficulties in mobilizing human resources, supplies and equipment. Failure to meet the site clearance schedule will greatly affect the project construction progress.
With the component project 3 - essential works in the airport, started on January 5, 2021 by the Airports Corporation of Vietnam - ACV with a total investment of 99,019 billion VND, the Ministry of Transport. Transport said that up to now, it has completed 71.66% of the demining volume, equivalent to 927.33ha of handed over land.
It is expected to complete the entire 2,532ha in December 2021 when the People's Committee of Dong Nai province allocates the land.
Item of boundary wall construction so far has built 6,478km of fence wall (reaching 98% of the volume) on the land area handed over by Dong Nai People's Committee. It is expected to complete the construction of 8,668km of fences in September 2021 when the Dong Nai Provincial People's Committee hands over the land.
The item of leveling and drainage for the passenger terminal and apron area has been consulted to complete the technical design. It is expected to level the ground in November 2021 to prepare the ground for starting the foundation of the passenger terminal in February 2022.
With the passenger terminal Long Thanh airport, ACV has selected the technical design consultant as the consortium Heerim (Korea) - Arup (UK) - Aurecon (Australia) - ADPi (France). Currently, drilling, surveying and pre-appraisal of the underground part of the work has been completed in order to start construction of the station in February 2022…
With the component project 2 - works for flight management, currently, Vietnam Flight Management Corporation has approved with a total investment of 3,435 billion VND to build a 123m high air traffic tower, radar stations, broadcasting stations, communication systems, etc. to ensure flight operations. This project will start construction in 2022, complete in the first quarter of 2025 for trial run, and put into operation in December 2025.
